UAMCC BOD Announcement 3/24/10

UAMCC BOD Announcement 3/24/10
This is an official communiqué to the mobile contract cleaning industry and especially to the contractors and vendors that have been members of the UAMCC, from the UAMCC Board of Directors.
We are well aware of our recent failures. We have not communicated well with the industry, and especially with the members. There have been nagging structural and procedural problems in the organization, and we have been unable to properly stay in contact with you all, because, to add insult to injury, our website and bulletin board have been unreliable, and the causes of that trouble have been unclear, and intractable.
We have been working on those specific problems, and others, during the long silence you have endured. We are changing hosting services very soon, and we are addressing the structures and procedural systems required to make any business entity viable.
In the recent past, there has been a host of rumors and suppositions about what is happening and what the BOD is doing, if anything. People wonder what has become of their investment in the UAMCC. It would be impractical to address all of those rumors individually, and nobody has any desire to encourage further or wilder rumors to propagate. As An alternative, I’d like to inform all of you about what is going to be happening in the following months.
The UAMCC Board of Directors has decided to extend all current memberships until July first of this year, at no additional charge, and under no obligation to the members. New members will be encouraged to join from now until then, at no cost, as a trial membership. We won’t collect any dues during this time, unless a member wishes to send them. In that case we will gladly accept them, and they will be applied to a new membership to begin July first. We will also accept any donations any person or entity would like to make to the UAMCC, as always. All members, new and old, are also encouraged to help us rebuild, in any way they see fit.
We see this as our working period, a time during which we will be diligently fixing what is repairable, removing the untenable, and adding innovations needed, so that the UAMCC can re-earn your trust and confidence as the only organization that built by mobile contract cleaning contractors, for contractors.
We are returning to the original vision of the UAMCC: An association of cleaning contractors dedicated to providing real benefit to one another, and thus, to the industry at large. We understand the things that worked in the past, so we are aggressively seeking, and will secure the benefits that matter most to our members: The logo for your websites, equipment and literature, so that your prospective customers can know you are a contractor that believes in the power of community, and of associating with others in your trade to hone your craft to its greatest focus; the leads, so that you can have good, qualified leads in your area, to lower your customer acquisition costs, and to make you more visible in your service area. Most importantly, we know that our members expect us to facilitate the actual act of association, so that contractors of all skill levels, and all stages of business, in all areas, can freely and productively discuss the issues and methodology that change our industry daily. We are here to provide our members with an advocate who will help them to speak intelligently, and effectively, to the authorities who have jurisdiction over our regulatory burden.
There will still be the smaller benefits that we have always had; our relationship with such vendors as Queensboro, Jiffy-Lube, and the like, but we are concentrating on systematizing the UAMCC in such a way that the members will understand how to use those relationships, so that those benefits actually help them in their businesses.
We are taking this extension time to prove that we can change what needs changing, keep what should be kept, and communicate on a regular basis with our members. We know we must prove ourselves, and earn the trust back that we have lost.
If at the end of the extension and the remainder of your membership term you believe that the UAMCC is not good for your business, you need only to let your membership expire.
The Board of Directors is deeply sorry for the missteps of the past, and we resolve to move into the future with those errors in mind. We humbly ask that any ideas or suggestions be brought to our attention by phone or email at your convenience, and we also ask that if you feel you can add to these efforts, that you volunteer to do so. All contributions of time, effort, ideas, or funds will be deeply appreciated and gratefully accepted.
