What's needed to run a single fuel tank for multiple machine?

I would like to connect 2-3 machines to a separate fuel tank. Do I need to do anything special other than extend the lines on the machines to reach the bottom of the new tank?

Does it matter if the tank is on the floor or mounted above the level of the carb? To start the tank will be most likely on the floor.
