How hard is high volume bypass on an unloader?

Because I have machines varying from 4-10 gpm and because I have guys that rotate between trucks and machines, I have all of my machines except one set to bypass at 1200 psi (at the pump). I do that as a safeguard to not overload pumps and to assuure low pressure on all job in case someone sticks a 4508 into a gpm machine rated for 1400 psi.

Question is.. lets say a guy doesn't realize his volume is dramatically reduced and the machine is bypassing 60% of its flow. Is that harder on the unloader than normal 10% bypass?
