Butyl based degreasers

I've heard butyl degreasers mentioned several times for concrete cleaning and would like to know who uses it and for what conditions. I'm guessing when caustic can't be used? I know how to neutralize caustic but is it necessary to neutralize butyl?

Also what brands and at what concentrations?

Butyl is more of an additive in my opinion and aids with some stains but not good as a single product unless your cleaning canopies. Its kinda like hot water & soap, alone each is a good thing but when combined they form a great cleaning agent.

As for an example of a butyl based degreasers look no further than purple power or simple green. Home depot sells one called industrial purple that is very, very soapy and also contains a decent amount of caustic soda in it as well. So unless your going to be using several gallons of purple power for a degreaser i would recommend sticking with a caustic based. I have not had luck with anything except caustic based degreasers.

Thanks for the reply. It's confusing to me. There are cleansers marketed as butyl based that contain sodium hydroxide and others are potassium hydroxide. The only advantage I've figured out is PH based have a shorter dwell time. I believe PH is also caustic and also requires caution as far as plants and asphalt etc.
