Inside Mcd's

I have 1 of my Mcd's stores that want me to do the sponge like matts that are under the inside playground. It is not a real big area but it has gotten dirty and dark looking and after 10 years Corporate is saying they may need to replace it. The owner told me it will cost around 40,000. to replace so if I could clean it and get the smell out he would love me.
So has anyone done any and how?

I have never looked into that at our stores but it cannot be too difficult. Give it a shot with something butyl and see if you get the results. Extremely hot water with about 2000psi first then add chemicals if needed. The thing to remember at every instance here is there can be NO harmful chemicals used unless your going to rinse to no end and then rinse for another 24hrs to make sure your liability is extremely slim. I would even go as far as saying get a fire hose and rinse it for an hour to make sure everything is flushed out from the area.

They tried the steam cleaning way and it did not come out to good and that is why they asked me. I said the same thing get a carpet guy so he can suck everything out at the same time but they said that they could not help either. I do not think I can flush that much water inside without it being a problem and the chemical thing scares me, the kids drop the food and then eat it and pick at it.

Been awhile on this topic but I think I would use an oxygen based bleach (sodium percarb cleaner). Then assuming the cleaner did the job try something like a carpet cleaning type setup or a Fury setup for cleaning and recovery.

Some years ago, a guy by the name of Scooter was doing playlands at McD and Booger Kings in Portland, OR. He used a pw, but I do not remember how he got the water out. I do remember he and his wife did a lot of cleaning by hand, even cutting the zip-ties on the foam so they could wipe down the hand rails. Sanitizing was a large part of his service.
