Hood CLeaning Standards being Discussed

Ron Musgraves

Past President
Staff member
IKECA must consider and respond to any comment it receives during the public comment period. Once all comments have been addressed and resolved, IKECA can submit its standard to ANSI for final approval as an American National Standard. If no one comments, IKECA can immediately request that ANSI approve the standard. The comment period closes on February 21 – less than three weeks from today.

I recommend that every company in the kitchen exhaust cleaning industry review the standard and comment to IKECA. Once this standard is approved by ANSI, like NFPA 96 it may begin appearing in AHJ requirements, municipal code, etc. This standard may have an impact on every kitchen exhaust cleaning company nation-wide.

They sent me a copy of them. It is good to know what is going on in all aspects of washing. You never know how the regs can cross over and effect everyone.
