electrical outlets outside

how do you protect electrical outlets

Hey fellow p.washers. Just wondering what you all do in order to cover the outlets you come across. We cover them with plastic and tape. sometimes water will find its way in behind the vinyl framework and short out the outlet. Scary stuff when it happens. I'm trying to find the best and safest way. Of course we ask our customers to make sure they are off at the panel but rarely do they listen or know how to shut them off. Any feedback would be great. Thanks
