RoofTec Tip: What Does Your Customer Expect?

Ryan Cash

Set expectations.

The best thing you can do for your business is to talk to the customer on every job about what you will be doing.

Educate them on how long it will take, what the results will and why that is. Let them know what they should see over the next few days/weeks/months. You need to interrupt their process and insert reality. It's your job as the professional to set and manage their expectations.

But here's the most important part: After you've set expectations, go do exactly what you said you would do!

When you finish, have a conversation with the customer where you reiterate the expectations and show them how you met them.

Life is so much easier when you are the one setting/managing expectations.
